About School

Libertas International University in Dubrovnik offers a unique educational environment for students of the undergraduate study programme of International Relations (Diplomacy) and graduate study programme of International Relations and Diplomacy. Although the curriculum is the same in Zagreb and in Dubrovnik, studying in Dubrovnik provides a special experience to students, because of the city’s central, historic and several-century-long role in diplomacy and trade. Located in the beautiful, historical Dominican monastery, the teaching and learning facilities in Dubrovnik offer international atmosphere to its students and faculty who come from different countries around the world. Students from around 30 different countries have been enrolled in one of our programmes. In addition, they get to live and experience everything that a beautiful city of Dubrovnik and the Mediterranean coast have to offer.

About Program

Contemporary world is characterized by both globalization and integration processes which affect almost all areas of human life. The issues foreign policy makers deal with today influence more and more lives of ordinary people. The governments are no more able to solve some problems individually, such as international terrorism or climate change. This new situation has lead to increased importance of international relations, and at the same time created the need for experts who will not only be able to understand those issues, but also find solutions and answers to contemporary challenges. The aim of the school is to provide students from Croatia and abroad with education in various academic disciplines of international relations and diplomacy. Being aware of the importance of an academic exchange, Libertas has established cooperation with some of the world’s most prestigious universities teaching those disciplines.

The program has been designed in accordance with similar academic programs at other international universities. Students will earn 180 ECTS points and will be able to continue their studies at university degree programs at Libertas International University or other institutions of higher education in Croatia, Europe or the rest of the world. Our alumni study diplomacy at the graduate level in China, Russia, America, Austria, and Croatia. Students can adapt their study program to their personal interests in the field of international relations. This provides them with the opportunity to work more intensely on some specific areas of the field of diplomacy and international relations.

Where: In the fall semester of 2020, all lectures will be online, per the existing program. All classes will be conducted through live online classes (synchronous) in periods adapted to students, with the possibility of student involvement. This form of teaching is adapted to the current epidemiological situation while aiming to follow modern technological trends.

Renowned lecturers from Croatia and other countries (USA, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Russia), many of whom have respectable academic careers and practical experience as holders of political or diplomatic functions, will participate in teaching classes. Seven active ambassadors to the Republic of Croatia, including the USA Ambassador Robert Kohorst, will participate in teaching
